Keynote

Sharon Malone, MD, will deliver the keynote address, “Purpose in Partnership: Empowering Patient and Physician Voices in Obstetrics and Gynecology,” on Saturday, May 17.

According to the conference agenda, Malone will use both her professional experience and personal insights to emphasize the dual responsibility ob-gyns carry: advocating for their patients and empowering them to advocate for themselves. Her keynote will underscore the urgency of achieving equitable, patient-centered care in a shifting reproductive health landscape.

Menopause management

Vasomotor symptoms continue to affect the quality of life for many patients entering menopause. On Friday, May 16, a session titled Optimizing Treatment of Vasomotor Symptoms: It's Not One-Size-Fits-All” will explore current hormonal and nonhormonal options for care.

Using case-based examples, presenters will guide attendees through tailoring treatment options for patients with disruptive symptoms.

Weight stigma and contraception

Also on Friday, May 16, the session, “Contraception for Patients in Varied Body Sizes: Weight Stigma and Patient-Centered Care,” will bring together multidisciplinary experts to discuss the latest recommendations from the CDC and Society of Family Planning.

Speakers will address how body weight can affect pregnancy risk and contraceptive effectiveness, and how providers can offer unbiased, personalized care to patients of all sizes.

Prenatal care redesign

A new ACOG Clinical Consensus Committee document is the focus of, “Tailored Prenatal Care Delivery for Pregnant Individuals,” scheduled for Friday, May 16.

This session will walk attendees through evidence-based updates to prenatal care delivery, including streamlined visit schedules, integration of telehealth, and addressing unmet social needs. The presenters will also discuss how to implement the recommendations equitably and efficiently in real-world practice.

CDC contraceptive guidance

“This Just In! 2024 CDC Contraceptive Recommendations” will kick off the morning on Saturday, May 17. This session will review updates to the United States. Medical Eligibility Criteria and Selected Practice Recommendations for Contraceptive Use.

The new guidance aims to remove unnecessary medical barriers and promote person-centered contraceptive counseling, according to the agenda.

Reproductive law update

The Saturday afternoon session, “The Legal Landscape for Access to Reproductive Health Care: Where We Are, How We Got Here, and What to Expect Next,” will provide attendees with an essential legal update on reproductive care.

Experts will cover major legal developments since the Dobbs decision, including cases that may affect access to emergency care, IVF, and interstate provider protections. This annual session is a must-attend for those seeking to understand how legal shifts may impact clinical care.
